Restore Photos From Scan Online

If you already have a scan, first check whether the problem comes from the photograph or its capture. A new scan may be more useful than editing glare, a cropped face or detail that was never captured.

Inspect the source file

Open the scan at a useful viewing size. Check the edges, focus and any reflections. Compare it with the physical print if available. If the scan is incomplete or blurred and the original can be handled safely, capture it again before restoration.

Review the restoration against the scan

Compare facial features, text and small objects as well as obvious scratches. Sharper edges can look convincing while changing the source. If color has been added to a monochrome image, treat it as interpretation rather than proof of original colors.

Keep useful versions

Retain the original scan and label the restored file separately. Reject an output that changes important features. A digital result does not repair damage to the physical photograph.
